Tablets
Qualcomm Atheros mobility solutions are ideally suited to the tablet computing market. With tablets’ focused nearly exclusively on delivering communications, content and applications on a light-weight OS, excellent connectivity—high-bandwidth, long-range, low-power wireless—is essential to tablets providing a robust consumer experience. And, with a key benefit being the tablet’s light weight and small size, connectivity solutions must be compact.
Qualcomm Atheros offers an array of high-performance WLAN as well as Bluetooth® and location solutions that deliver both the connected performance and low-power consumption to suit the requirements of tablet computing products. Qualcomm Atheros’ solutions are available for a wide array of form factors and operating systems to suit the diverse needs of tablet platforms. To ease the design process, our solutions offer the flexibility to be implemented directly on the board, in system-in-package form, and pre-certified for faster time-to-market.
Qualcomm Atheros Mobile WLAN
Qualcomm Atheros’ mobile WLAN technology, the AR6003, is the ideal connectivity solution for tablet PCs. Featuring Qualcomm Atheros’ Align® 1-stream 11n performance in both the 2.4 and 5GHz bands, the AR6003 delivers up to 85 Mbps of actual throughput with range that enables connectivity across the house, business, library or coffee shop. And, because it offers the industry’s lowest power mobile Wi-Fi, the AR6003 helps to significantly extend the tablet’s battery charge.
Qualcomm Atheros Bluetooth®
Qualcomm Atheros’ AR3002 and AR3012 Bluetooth 4.0 solutions deliver high-performance, low-power personal area connectivity for tablets with SDIO and PCIe, respectively. For tablets that feature both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi features, Atheros also offers solutions that combine its Bluetooth 3.0 High Speed and Align™ 1-stream 802.11n solutions into a small and efficient package to extend tablet battery.
Qualcomm® IZat™ Location Technology
IZat location solutions provide always-on positioning capabilities with unmatched accuracy and minimal impact on battery life. The end-to-end platform augments satellite-based measurements with cellular, Wi-Fi and sensor positioning techniques, and leverages an array of cloud-based assistance servers to provide a superior location experience. IZat GNSS chipsets are integrated into Qualcomm’s MSM, MDM and APQ platforms, and also sold as discrete SoCs to support a wide variety of device architectures.
