Atheros Schedules Third Quarter 2009 Results Conference Call for October 19, 2009

Announces Analyst Day Event on November 5, 2009

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Oct. 5, 2009 — Atheros Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: ATHR), a global leader in innovative technologies for wireless and wired communications, today announced that it will release its third quarter financial 2009 results after the market closes on Monday, Oct. 19 and host an Analyst Day for equity analysts and institutional investors on Thursday, Nov. 5.

Third Quarter Financial Results Conference Call
Atheros has scheduled its third quarter financial results conference call on Monday, Oct. 19, 2009 at 2 p.m. Pacific Time (5 p.m. Eastern Time). Atheros will release the company's third quarter financial results at approximately 1 p.m. Pacific Time (4 p.m. Eastern Time).

Atheros will host an Analyst Day for equity analysts and institutional investors on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009 at the Techmart in Santa Clara, Calif. Members of the executive team will host a series of presentations from
1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific Time (4 p.m.to 8 p.m. Eastern Time). Attendance at the event is by invitation only.
