Atheros Communications
Named Company of the Year Small/Medium by EE Times ACE Awards
SUNNYVALE, Calif., March 11, 2005—Atheros
Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: ATHR), a leading developer of advanced wireless
LAN (WLAN) chipsets, today announced that it has been named Company of the Year
Small/Medium during the inaugural EE Times Annual Creativity in
Electronics (ACE) Awards. This award celebrates the company that exhibits the
highest degree of professionalism in staff development and retention, customer
focus, technical excellence and profitable growth in the electronics industry.
Atheros received the award during the gala event held at the Embedded Systems
Conference San Francisco on March 9, 2005.
“The competition within
the Company of the Year Small/Medium award was incredibly stiff,” said Paul
Miller, VP/Publisher of EE Times. “The fact that Atheros was selected
from among five finalists in its award category by a stellar panel of leading
industry technologists, educators, and executives, makes us especially proud to
recognize Atheros as a stand-out contributor in the electronics industry.”
Also Aruba Networks, an
Atheros customer, was named Emerging Company of the Year at the EE Times
ACE awards event.
Last year Atheros
introduced the industry’s first single-chip 802.11g and 802.11a/b/g solutions
for client devices, as well as a single-chip 802.11g Access Point (AP) device.
Atheros’ move to single-chip integration is part of its strategy to provide the
industry with high-performance, low-cost wireless solutions, in order to drive
ubiquitous wireless connectivity.
“We are very thankful
for this distinguished honor by EE Times and the electronics industry
community,” said Craig Barratt, president and chief executive officer of Atheros
Communications. “Our product and financial achievements in 2004 would not have
been possible without the dedication, innovation and support of our employees.
In 2005, we look forward to bringing new and exciting innovations to the
wireless semiconductor market by leveraging our single-chip integration strategy
and industry-leading wireless features.”
