Atheros Wireless System Selected for DEMO 2001

Showing Latest in High-Speed Wireless Networking Technology

SUNNYVALE, Calif., February 12, 2001-- Atheros Communications, Inc., provider of wireless system technologies for next-generation networks, has been invited to demonstrate its breakthrough technology at DEMO 2001, a major industry conference taking place February 12th and 13th in Phoenix, Arizona.

"Atheros is at the forefront of a new frontier and its technologies can speed the deployment of new high speed wireless networks," said Jim Forbes, executive editor of DEMO letter and co-producer of DEMO. "Atheros breaks the speed barrier in wireless, which makes it possible to use this technology to transmit rich data types as well as more common text-based information."

"DEMO 2001 attendees will see how the Atheros IEEE 802.11a standard-based wireless system can drive the high-speed, low cost delivery of audio, video and data without the hassle of wires," said Mark Bercow, Atheros' vice president of Marketing and Business Development. "We're delighted to have been chosen to demonstrate our technology at this year's DEMO conference."

Atheros' next-generation wireless networking technology provides connectivity between information and entertainment devices in the home or workplace. With speeds up to 54Mbps standard and 72Mbps turbo, Atheros' solutions allow for the wireless distribution of bandwidth-intensive multimedia applications such as streaming video. In addition, Atheros' highly integrated system, with a complete "Radio-on-a-Chip" (RoC), translates into lower implementation costs making the technology more accessible.
