Atheros Communications’ Teresa Meng Receives Innovator Award at Demo@15! Conference

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Feb. 17, 2005Atheros Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: ATHR), a leading developer of advanced wireless LAN (WLAN) chipsets, today announced that Dr. Teresa H. Meng, founder and a member of the board of directors of Atheros Communications, was named one of the DEMO@15! Innovator Award winners. The event organizers recognized the top 15 innovators who have defined the best technologies and products over the last 15 years at a special DEMO anniversary celebration dinner on Tuesday, February 15.

“Teresa has been a key contributor to the development of high-performance wireless technologies,” said Chris Shipley, DEMO executive producer. “The success and proliferation of Wi-Fi technology today from early adopters to the mainstream made it a prime choice as a top technology innovation. We’re proud to recognize Teresa’s efforts for enabling the Wi-Fi economy.”

Teresa has played a leading role in Atheros achieving numerous industry milestones in its six-year history. The company introduced the world’s first 802.11a chipset in 2001, the first dual-band 802.11a/b chipsets in 2002 and 802.11a/b/g chipsets in 2003. In 2004, it also rolled out the industry’s first single-chip 802.11g and 802.11a/b/g solutions for client devices, as well as a single-chip 802.11g Access Point (AP) device.
