SUNNYVALE, Calif., January 22, 2001 - Atheros Communications, Inc., provider of wireless system technologies for next-generation
networks, has been chosen to demonstrate its breakthrough technology at Upside Events' Showcase 2001, a major industry conference,
taking place January 22-24, in La Quinta, Calif., near Palm Springs.
"Hand-picked from hundreds of applicants, selected companies like Atheros will give the Showcase audience, comprised of
industry leaders, media, analysts and venture capitalists, the opportunity to evaluate the latest, most exciting offerings
available today and in the near future," stated Jesse Berst, Showcase executive producer.

of Marketing and Business Development. "Attendees will be able to experience first hand the new applications that can be driven
by the Atheros IEEE 802.11a standard-based wireless system."
Atheros' next-generation wireless networking technology provides high-speed, low-cost connectivity between information and
entertainment devices in the home or workplace. With speeds up to 54Mbps standard and 72Mbps turbo, Atheros' solutions allow
for the wireless distribution of bandwidth-intensive multimedia applications such as streaming video. In addition, Atheros'
highly integrated system with a complete "Radio-on-a-Chip" (RoC) translates into lower implementation costs making the
technology more accessible.
Atheros Communications was founded in May 1998 by leading experts in radio and signal processing from Stanford University,
the University of California at Berkeley, and private industry. The Company's mission is to provide wireless networking

Funded by venture capital firms August Capital, Foundation Capital and New Enterprise Associates, Atheros currently employs
